The Creative 乾

The Creative speaks of heaven's tireless strength. It asks you to begin with resolve, keep going with patience and read the timing of each step.

Judgment

The Creative brings great success. If you move forward with resolve and stay true to what is right, the way is open. The power is yours, but what you use it for, and when, decides everything.

Image

Heaven moves with strength and never stops. In the same way, the wise person keeps building their own strength, working without tiring and without growing slack.

What does The Creative mean?

All six lines are solid. This is pure strength, light and movement, with nothing mixed in. Heaven turns without pause, carries the seasons forward and gives everything its first spark. In your situation, too, there is a chance to start things, to set a direction and to lead. The wish inside you is alive, and nothing large is holding you back from outside. Times like this do not come often, so it pays to know their worth. Your ideas are clear and your will is strong. People may be waiting for you to show them a direction.

Even so, this power only bears fruit when it is tied to a sound purpose. The lines trace the path of the dragon: first it waits hidden under the water, then it appears in the field, then it rises into the sky. Each stage has its own time. If you leap too early, you waste your strength. If you lose all measure and climb too high, the fall is painful. What is asked of you is to use your strength with resolve and honesty, and to match your steps to the moment. Steady, patient effort does more than one great push. When you lead by example instead of forcing others, the people around you grow stronger with you. Heaven never hurries, but it never stops either. Your strength comes from that same steadiness. The small, right steps you take today become the foundation of something large tomorrow.

What to do now

Use your strength without haste, with the same resolve every day.

Love and relationships

You may be the one setting the direction in this relationship, but leading is not the same as pressing. Be open and consistent, and stand behind your word. Leave room for your partner to show their own strength too.

Work and money

A good period to start a new venture, take on leadership or aim for a large goal. Build a solid plan and move it forward a little every day. When success comes, do not let pride take over, because the dragon at the very top ends in regret.

The lines

If a line changed (red) in your reading, read only that line. Lines are counted from the bottom up.

  1. First line

The dragon lies hidden deep in the water. It is not yet time to act; gather your strength and wait.

  2. Second line

The dragon appears in the field. Your abilities are starting to be noticed; meeting a great person who can guide you brings benefit.

  3. Third line

The wise person works hard all day and stays alert into the evening. You are at a risky point, but if you keep your attention there is no blame.

  4. Fourth line

The dragon leaps in the deep water. You face a choice between rising and staying where you are; if you decide by consulting your own heart, there is no mistake.

  5. Fifth line

The flying dragon is in the sky. Your strength has reached its clearest form; it is favorable to meet the great person and work alongside them.

  6. Top line

The arrogant dragon has cause for regret. A rise that goes beyond measure ends in a break; know when to stop and step back.

  7. All six lines

A flight of dragons appears with no head among them, and this is a good sign. When power belongs to no one alone and no one pushes to the front, the work moves in harmony.
