About

I Ching Hexagrams is a simple, free site for anyone who wants to consult the Book of Changes.

The texts

The hexagram and line interpretations are original texts based on the traditional meanings of the Zhouyi. The main sources are James Legge's translation of 1882, now in the public domain, and the commentary tradition of the Ten Wings. No modern translation has been copied.

Randomness

Every coin toss uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues function, the random number generator used in cryptography. The result is not decided in advance and is not calculated on a server.

Privacy

Your questions and readings are never sent to a server. Your recent readings are stored only in your own browser so you can look at them again; you can delete them all with the "Clear history" link on the home page.

Visit statistics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site is used. You are asked for consent on your first visit. If you decline, no cookies are set; Google only counts anonymous, aggregated visits. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser. Your questions and readings are never sent to Google either.

Note

The I Ching is a tool for reflection and finding direction. It does not replace professional advice on health, legal or financial decisions.
